Jean-Louis Longuefosse: when the ocean inspires art at Villa Seren
In Hossegor, between pine forests and endless waves, art finds its natural home.
It is in this exceptional setting, in the heart of the Landes region, that Villa Seren, the coast’s iconic luxury hotel, is hosting the works of painter Jean-Louis Longuefosse until March 6.
An artist shaped by the sea
Originally from the Basque coast, Jean-Louis Longuefosse grew up to the rhythm of the ocean, between Anglet and Hossegor. Very early on, the sea became a language for him, an inexhaustible source of emotions and forms. The movements of the water, the changing light, and the stormy skies nourished his vision and shaped his artistic universe.
A long stay in the Caribbean then enriched his palette. There, he discovered new horizons, new intensities of light, and new relationships with living things. These distant influences infuse his work, bringing depth and warmth to his paintings, without ever breaking the deep-seated bond that unites him with the Atlantic.
The shores of Landes, the heart of his inspiration
Despite his travels, it is the shores of the Basque Country and Landes that remain at the center of his work. The wild beaches, the dunes sculpted by the wind, and the raw power of the Landes ocean infuse his paintings with a deeply dreamlike atmosphere.
Through each work, Jean-Louis Longuefosse does not seek to faithfully reproduce reality. He interprets it, sublimates it, allowing the imagination to transform the landscapes. His painting celebrates life in all its beauty, between abstraction and suggestion, inviting contemplation and inner journey.

His works are displayed in the new exotic lobby of Villa Seren, creating a harmonious dialogue with the architecture and atmosphere of the place. Designed as a true sensory interlude, this space combines art, design, and nature thanks to its careful scenography, created in collaboration with Fleuriste Labat Emeric for the plants, Goicoechea pots, Espaceprive, and the Oblique architecture studio.
